Questions
Good to know
What is a secret message link?
It is your own link on Secret Inbox. Share it on your Instagram story, WhatsApp status or anywhere, and anyone who opens it can send you a message without signing in and without you knowing who they are.
Is it really anonymous?
Yes. The person who owns the link never sees your name, number, account or device. Secret Inbox has no sign-up, and messages are sealed on your phone before they leave it. To let an owner block abuse we keep a scrambled, one-way network tag inside each message; it never reveals who you are and nobody can see it.
Can you read my messages?
No. Messages and private replies are encrypted end to end in your browser. What we store is unreadable without the owner's key, which never reaches us. The only things a visitor can see are a link's name, its question and the answers the owner chose to show.
How do I reply?
Open a message in your inbox and write a private reply: the sender sees it on their Sent page and can answer back. Or share the message and your answer as a story picture on WhatsApp, Instagram, Snapchat or anywhere else, or show it on your link page.
How long do messages stay?
3 days. After that they disappear from your inbox and are erased from storage within 7 days. A link that gets no messages for about a week is removed too; you can always make a new one.
I opened my link on another phone. Where is my inbox?
Your inbox lives on the device where you made the link. Use the recovery key you saved (My inbox → Open with a key) to open it anywhere. Without the key nobody can open it, not even us.
Someone is sending me hurtful messages. What can I do?
Open the message and tap Block sender: messages from that sender’s network to your link are refused. You can also turn on the word filter, pause your link or delete it. Report threats to us and, if you feel unsafe, to the authorities. See the Safety page.
Do you send fake messages to keep me hooked?
Never. Every message in your inbox was written by a real person. Secret Inbox also never sells "hints" about who sent a message.
Is Secret Inbox like NGL or secretmessage.link?
It works the same way (your link, anonymous messages, share your answers on your story), with three differences: you can reply privately and the sender can answer back, messages are end-to-end encrypted and disappear after 3 days, and we never send fake messages or sell hints.
Is it free?
Yes. Secret Inbox is free, with no sign-up and no app to install. It works in any phone browser, including inside Instagram and WhatsApp.
Is there an age limit?
Yes, Secret Inbox is for people aged 16 and older.
