How to get anonymous messages on Instagram
Add your secret message link to your story and let followers ask you anything, without them ever being named.
Make your link
- Open Secret Inbox and type your name.
- Pick a question such as “Ask me anything” or write your own, and choose a colour.
- Tap Create my link, confirm you are 16 or older and save your recovery key.
Add it to your story
- In your inbox, open Share and tap Save picture to get a story picture with your question.
- In Instagram, start a new story and pick that picture from your gallery.
- Tap the sticker icon, choose Link, paste your link and set the sticker text, for example “Ask me 👀”.
- Place the sticker over the picture and post the story.
Reply on your story
- Open a message in your inbox and type your answer.
- Tap Share as story, pick a design and share it to Instagram. The picture shows the message and your answer, never who sent it.
- Or send a private reply: the sender reads it on their Sent page and can answer back.
Tips for more messages
- Post your link in the evening, when most of your followers are online.
- Ask a specific question; “Rate my outfit 1–10” gets more answers than “Send me something”.
- Answer a few messages on your story: people send more when they see you reply.
- Messages disappear after 3 days, so share a fresh story every few days.
Questions
Can Instagram see who sent the message?
No. Messages are sent on Secret Inbox, not inside Instagram, and the sender never signs in. Not even we know who wrote a message.
The link opens inside Instagram. Is that fine?
Yes, everything works there. If you make your link inside Instagram, save your recovery key, because Instagram’s browser can clear its data.
Where do I put the link if I do not use stories?
Add it to your Instagram bio, or share it in a direct message to a group.
